SUMMARY:Digboi College Hosts Insightful Yoga Program
DESCRIPTION:28th May 2024: \nIn a bid to emphasize the relevance of yoga in contemporary times\, Digboi College organized a noteworthy program on the importance of yoga. The event\, which took place in the college auditorium\, was a collaborative effort by Human Value Development Sub-Committee and Yoga Meditation Centre\, in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Digboi College. \nDr. Dip Saikia\, the Principal of Digboi College\, presided over the program as the chairperson. Sukhamoy Nath\, a renowned Yoga Guru from Digboi\, graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The keynote address was delivered by Dibyajyoti Deka\, an esteemed faculty member of the Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre\, Guwahati\, and Chairman of Yogesvara Sansthan\, Guwahati. \n  \nThe program drew an enthusiastic crowd\, with over 150 students in attendance\, alongside numerous teachers\, showcasing the growing interest and dedication to yoga within the academic sphere. The event underscored the significance of integrating yoga into daily life\, particularly in managing stress and enhancing overall well-being in today’s fast-paced world. \nDr. Saikia\, in his opening remarks\, highlighted the pivotal role of yoga in fostering mental and physical health. After that\, the Resource Person\, Dibyajyoti Deka elaborated on the therapeutic benefits of yoga\, advocating for its inclusion in mainstream health and education systems. \nThe program was well-received by participants\, who engaged actively in the discussions and demonstrations. DESCRIPTION:18th March 2024: \nA one day workshop on 3-D printing was organized jointly by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell\, IQAC\, Digboi College Career Counseling and Placement cell\, Department of Commerce & NEC under the PMdeviNE scheme on 18-03-2024 at the Seminar hall. A total of 55 participants from Commerce and Science belonging to 2nd\, 4th and 6th semester participated in the said workshop. The program started with the Principal Dr. Dip Saikia felicitating the two resource persons from Amtron. Prof.Mamta Juneja\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering\, Punjab University acted as resource person for the program on behalf of Amtron. She explained all the applications of 3- D printing and the avenues related to the field highlighting the entrepreneurial prospects for the youths in the near future. Mr. Nayan Deka\, Amtron Guwahati explained the various aspects of the upcoming field and the government initiatives for employment in this field. SUMMARY:Celebration of International PI Day: Organised by Department of Mathematics
DESCRIPTION:18th March 2024: \nOn 18th March 2024\, the Department of Mathematics\, Digboi College\, in collaboration with IQAC\, Digboi College and Digboi College Mathematical Forum (DCMF) celebrated International Pi-Day. The distinguished guests invited for the event were Dr. Dip Saikia\, Principal\, Digboi College\, Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta\, Vice Principal\, Digboi College\, and Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College. Students and Teachers from various departments attended the event. \n  \nThe event started at 10:00 a.m.\, hosted by Ms. Anindita Mahanta was commenced by welcoming and felicitating dignitaries on the dais. Mr. Mukul Buragohain\, Head\, Dept. Of Mathematics\, welcomed the gathering and stated the purpose of the program in brief. \n \nThe very first issue of the Departmental Newsletter ‘MathScape’ was then inaugurated by the Principal\, Digboi College\, and all the other dignitaries on the dais. Honorable Principal\, Dr. Dip Saikia encouraged everyone with his words of wisdom and congratulated the Department for this initiative. The newsletter was edited by Ms. Anindita Mahanta\, Asst. Professor\, Dept. of Mathematics and advised by Dr. Arjun Singh Chetry\, Asst. Professor Dept. of Mathematics with the help of all the faculty members of the department. The newsletter depicts the overall growth and activities of the department from the academic year 2021-22 to 2022-23. Further\, the newsletter also highlights the accomplishments of students in other co-curricular areas. The Department of Mathematics\, Digboi College\, dedicated the inaugural issue of the Newsletter in memory of Dr. Amrit Chandra Deka\, former HoD\, Dept. of Mathematics who left for his heavenly abode on 13th April\, 2023. \n  \nThe students from Delhi Public School\, Digboi\, and Little Star Senior Secondary School\, Digboi were awarded certificates of merit for their excellent performance in the Mathematics Olympiad held on 20/08/2023 at Digboi College. The students were Ritwik Guru\, DPS\, Digboi\, Shehjanur Rahman\, DPS\, Digboi\, and Ayushi Agarwal\, Little Star Senior Secondary School\, Digboi. Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta\, Vice Principal\, Digboi College presented the award. \n   \nDr. Jatindra Lahkar\, Associate Professor\, Dept. of Mathematics\, delivered a talk on the “Importance of Pi and significance of the day.” He highlighted the origin of the number Pi and its uses. Further\, he talked about the significance of the International Pi Day and its celebration across the globe. A Pi memorization and recitation competition was then conducted amongst the students by Dr. Binod Chetry\, Asst. professor\, Dept. of Mathematics. Students were given 5 minutes to remember the digits of Pi after decimal as much as they could and then recite it. The result of the Pi recitation competition was as follows: \n1st Prize: Akash Deep Saikia\, Dept. of Chemistry\, recited 50 digits of Pi. \n2nd Prize: Ayushi Agarwal\, Little Star Senior Secondary School recited 38 digits. \n3rd Prize: Rohit Sharma\, Dept. of Chemistry\, recited 33 digits.  \n4th Prize: Kushbu Kumari Agarwal and Sompreeti Borthakur\, Dept. of Mathematics\, recited 32 digits. \n5th Prize: Kunjit Dohutia\, Dept. of Mathematics\, recited 30 digits. \n \nAn Inter-departmental Quiz Competition was organized by the Department of Mathematics with 16 participating teams from various Departments. Each team is comprised of three members. Ms. Anindita Mahanta and Dr. Arjun Singh Chetry conducted the Quiz. A preliminary round with 10 questions was conducted and students were given 10 minutes to write all the answers. The first 5 teams were then selected for the Main Quiz. The Quiz was conducted in 5 rounds for a total of 250 points. Questions were from Science\, Mathematics\, General Awareness\, Entertainment\, and Sports backgrounds. \nThe result of the Quiz Competition is as follows: \n1st prize: Department of Physics \nBharat Sharma\, Shivam Sharma and Bornali Gogoi. \n2nd prize: Department of Chemistry  \nPalash Phukan\, Arjun Pradhan and Karanjit Konwar. \n3rd prize: \nKunjit Dohutia\, Dept. of Mathematics; Nisha Debnath\, Dept. of Botany and Ayushi Agarwal\, Little Star Senior Secondary School. \n  \nAPrize Distribution ceremony was then conducted and prizes were awarded to the winners by Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta\, Vice Principal\, Digboi College\, Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, and Dr. Jatindra Lahkar\, Dept. of Mathematics. They encouraged the participants and winners with their motivating and inspiring words. Further\, they inspired the students to take part in such intellectual enrichment activities in the future. Ms. Ayushi Agarwal\, Little Star Senior Secondary School was awarded a special prize of appreciation for her enthusiasm and participation in all the competitions. The prize was awarded to her by Dr. Jatindra Lahkar\, Dept. of Mathematics. The prizes of the Treasure Hunt Competition organized on the occasion of National Science Day on 28th Feb 2024 were distributed to the students by Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College. \n \nHimani Gurung\, Dept. of Physics\, 6th Semester has been recognized by Lions Club\, Digboi for her extraordinary performance in academics. She belongs to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the society. She had been awarded a certificate and a one-time scholarship of Rs. 5000.00 only. Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College presented the award. The event was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Arjun Singh Chetry\, Asst. DESCRIPTION:8th March 2024: \nOn 08th March 2024\, Digboi College Women Welfare Cell (DCWWC) in association with Digboi College Student’s Union (DCSU) and IQAC\, Digboi College has celebrated International Women’s Day\, 2024 with the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. The occasion was honored with the presence of keynote speaker Dr. Swati Kiran\, Assistant Professor\, Department of Assamese\, Dibrugarh University. She has delivered a talk on “Emotional and Mental health of Women and Indian Society”. \n   \n The celebration was also embarked with two days celebration. On 05/03/2024\, essay competition was held (Topic: Feminism vs Pseudofeminism)\, Elocution competition (Topic: Unshackling the stereotypes-Womenhood) in both Assamese and English language and Cricket competition for female students. SUMMARY:Celebration of National Science Day 2024
DESCRIPTION:28th February 2024: \nOn 28th Feb\, 2024\, all the Science Departments\, Digboi College\, in collaboration with IQAC\, Digboi College celebrated National Science Day. The distinguished guest invited for the event were Dr. Deepa Sarma Borthakur\, Principal (i/c)\, Digboi College\, Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College\, Dr. Jayanta Handique\, Head\, Dept. of Electronics\, Dr. Gauri Buragohain\, Head\, Dept. of English\, Dr. Mrinal Kumar Gogoi\, Dept. of Assamese. Students and Teachers from various department attended the event. About 150 students participated in the programme. \n \nThe program started at 11:00 A.M.\, hosted by Ms. Anindita Mahanta\, Assistant Professor\, Dept. of Mathematics commenced by welcoming the dignitaries on the dais followed by lighting dias as a symbol of tribute to Sir C.V Raman. Dr. Deepa Sarma Borthakur\, Principal (i/c) inaugurated the program formally with an inspiring short speech. Ms. Mamita Kalita\, Assistant Professor\, Dept. of Botany delivered a keynote speech for the event highlighting the theme for National Science Day\, 2024\, ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’. \n \nFollowing the keynote speech\, the dignitaries on the dais\, Dr. Jayanta Handique\, Gauri Buragohain\, Dr. Mrinal Kumar Gogoi\, and Dr. Pabitra Bharali inspired and motivated everyone with a few words on the importance of science learning and keeping a scientific mindset while tackling day to day problems. A presentation on ‘Flipside: The Journey of a Cartoonist’ was presented by Dr. Deborshee Gogoi\, Head\, Dept. of Commerce. In the talk\, he enlightened the impact of human development on Biodiversity and Environment through effective representation using cartoons. His work has been recognized worldwide by the Wildlife Preservation Societies\, NGOs\, and Government. He has worked on the movements like “#IamDihingPatkai”. \n \nA Treasure Hunt Competition was organized amongst the students of various departments of the college with 26 participating teams comprising of 3 members each. For the first time in the history of Digboi College\, such a competition has been organized. The treasure hunt was scattered all around the college campus. Mamita Kalita\, Anindita Mahanta\, Prerona Gogoi\, and Sanat Kumar Gogoi prepared the clues for the hunt. Students needed to find and locate 5 clues in total to reach the final destination of the hunt. This competition boosted their knowledge about the college and also improved their critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Further\, hands-on programs like this enhance the student’s engagement in teaching learning curriculum. The program was centered on the life and achievements of Prof. C.V Raman.  \n  \nThe result of the Treasure Hunt is as follows: \n1st Prize: Rs. 1000.00 only in cash and Certificate:  Department of Life Sciences \nDeb Bahadur Chetry\, Trinayan Baruah and Jigyas Jyoti Moran. \n2nd Prize: Rs. 700.00 only in cash and Certificate: Department of Political Science \nRohan Regmi\, Anwesha Choudhury and Angana Bordoloi. \n3rd Prize: Rs. 500.00 only in cash and Certificate: Department of Physics \nShivam Sharma\, Geetima Kishan and Himani Gurung. \nInspirational Prize: Rs. 300.00 only in cash and Certificate: Department of Zoology \nCherich Taye\, Samrat Morang and Rajesh Rai. \n   \nA student interaction session took place after the completion of the hunt where participating and winning members of different teams interacted and shared their experiences. Almost all of the speakers emphasize on participating in such activities. Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in the event. Further\, he acknowledged the organizers Sanat Kumar Gogoi\, Mamita Kalita\, Prerona Gogoi\, Arjun Singh Chetry\, Anindita Mahanta\, and Bhaswati Talukdar for their continuous efforts and creativity in making the event a great success and advised them to host such events in future. Lastly\, he announced that the prizes for the Treasure Hunt Competition would be distributed on the occasion of the International Pi Day Celebration on 14th March 2024. SUMMARY:Felicitation & Interaction Programme: APSC Success Story
DESCRIPTION:23rd February 2024: \nA program of Felicitation and Interaction was organized by the Digboi College Career Counseling and Placement Cell under IQAC Quality initiatives on 23-02-2024. The program consisted of two parts viz. Felicition of alumni qualifying the APSC CCE 2022 examination and interaction of alumni viz. Ms. Jyoti Rani Nath\, Mr. Tilok Dhungana\, Mr. Suraj Kumar Gupta and Ms. Pallavi Saikia with the final semester students. \nThe program started with the assumption of chair by the Principal Dr. Dip Saikia\, Vice Principal Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta\, the IQAC Co ordinator Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, alumni Suraj Gupta and Pallavi Saikia. \n \nPrincipal Dr. Dip Saikia in his address congratulated the alumni and said that he was looking forward to many such successful candidates from amongst the students in the coming years. \nBoth the alumni were felicitated by Phulam Gamosas and an address of felicitation each by the principal. Dr. Pabitra Bharali read out the address of felicitations before offering. The two alumni shared their journey to success in a lucid manner. \nThe felicitation was followed by a highly effective interaction session of the alumni with the 6th semester students. Some relevant questions and observations were addressed by some of the faculty members. The program ended by vote of thanks offered by the IQAC coordinator. DESCRIPTION:21st February 2024: On February 21\, 2024\, Digboi College celebrated International Mother Language Day\, organized by the Department of Assamese in collaboration with IQAC\, Digboi College\, at the Conference Hall with great enthusiasm. Welcoming all the attendees\, The Principal of Digboi College set a tone of warmth and inclusivity for the event. The celebration of IMLD contained two objectives. DESCRIPTION:15th February 2024:  On February 15th\, 2024\, an insightful workshop on Tax Deducted at Source Compliances\, aimed at enhancing awareness among employees from colleges under Margherita Sub-Division\, was conducted at Seminar Hall of Digboi College\, Digboi. Hosted by the Income Tax Officer (TDS)\, Tinsukia\, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Digboi College\, the event commenced with a warm welcome address from Dr. Dip Saikia\, Principal of Digboi College. The objective of the gathering was eloquently outlined by Amitabh Shekhar Gupta\, Inspector\, TDS\, Tinsukia. Notable figures present in the workshop included Supratim Purkayastha\, Income Tax Officer\, TDS\, Tinsukia; Biswajit Mazumdar\, Income Tax Officer\, Digboi; Ratan Dey\, Income Tax Officer\, Sivsagar; and Amitabh Shekhar Gupta\, Inspector\, TDS\, TSK\, accompanied by two assistant officers from the Office of the Income Tax Officer\, Tinsukia. DESCRIPTION:2nd February 2024:  \nThe Govt. of Assam organised a Mega Career Counseling Programme & Career Fair for the students of Assam enrolled in various colleges and higher secondary schools on 2nd February 2024. More than 200 higher educational institutions participated in the programme in online mode. Around 50 selected students of various departments of Digboi College participated in the programme. The IQAC\, Digboi Collage instructed the departments to encourage students to participate in the programme. The college has a seminar hall equipped with state of the art facilities for such blended mode pedagogy. The honorable Secretary of the State\, Education Department graced the occasion with his welcome speech. Dr. Dip Saikia\, Principal; Dr. Jayanta Handique\, Adviser IQAC; Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, Co-ordinator IQAC and Sanat Kumar Gogoi\, Asst. Prof.\, Dept. of Physics were also present during the session. The programme was much informative and instrumental to the students in choosing their career wisely. The students are eager to attend such programmes and thankful to the Govt. of Assam for organising a career counselling programme. DESCRIPTION:3-day workshop on Cyber Security Awareness at Digboi College\n12th October 2023:  \n \nWith its dedicated services for safety and security of the students’ community and as part of its Industry-Academia collaborative initiative\, Digboi College organised a 3-day workshop on Cyber Security Awareness at the college auditorium from 9th to 11th Oct 2023. Around 1500 students attended the workshop addressed by National IT Innovator Awardee Mr. Biju Pegu\, MD and CEO\, Gratia Technology Pvt Ltd\, Guwahati\, Assam. Three different groups of students (1. All students of UG 1st semester and MSc 2. All students of UG 3rd and 5th semesters 3. All students of HS classes) attended the programmes that started at 12 noon and continued for three extremely engaging hours on each day. The sessions were quite informative and useful as one of most crucial needs of this Cyber Age was addressed in a friendly and lucid way – securing ourselves from the different Cyber threats. The participants’ feedback has been very highly positive. The students have expressed their willingness to undergo courses in this field. The sessions were attended by the faculty members and non-teaching staff as well. The programme was anchored by Debopriya Debnath\, NSS volunteer. Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang\, Programme Officer of NSS Digboi College Unit delivered the purpose of the meeting. Dr. Dip Saikia\, Principal Digboi College inaugurated the blood donation camp by imparting his valuable speech on the theme\, “Give blood\, give plasma\, share life\, share often.”. Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta\, Vice-Principal\, Digboi College\, delivered his speech on the occasion and appreciated NSS Digboi College Unit.  \n   \nCommanding Officer of the Digboi Battalion of Indian Army\, Colonel KSH John Singh\, Captain Tomthin\, Sri P.R. Dewakar\, Asst. Commandant\, Sri Surjit Singh\, SI/Exe\, Sri Narayan Dutta\, ASI/Exe of CISF IOCL\, Digboi were also present. Dr. Kabari Neog\, Medical Officer\, Pathologist\, have concluded her speech on importance of blood donation and also explained elaborated the benefits towards donating blood. Fresh blood is produced immediately by our bone marrow and it makes a blood donor’s a fresh and active life after a while and as per norms\, one can donate blood again after 3 months. The Blood donors were faculties\, students\, staffs\, army and CISF personals. DESCRIPTION:5th Jun 2023:  \nOn the occasion of World Environment Day\, 2023\, NSS Digboi College\, Department of Zoology and Department of Botany\, in collaboration with IQAC Digboi College today has organized plantation drive\, seminar talk and painting competition. \n Dr. Dip Saikia\, Principal Digboi College inaugurated the programme by Tree Plantaion with Dr. Tilak Chandra Datta\, Head\, Dept. of Botany at the Botanical Garden. Various species of medicinal important plants were planted in the garden. NSS Digboi College Unit planted Nahar Plant Mesua ferra in front of the college library building. In another plantation programme\, Department of Zoology planted 40 Nos. of sericigenous plants such as Kesseru (Heteropanas fragans)\, Nuni (Morus alba) and Som (Machilus bombycine)\, at Sericulture Garden of Department of Zoology. Dr. Kishor Haloi\, Dr. Moni Kankana Kalita and Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang were present in the Sericulture Tree Plantation along with Mr. Deep Bora\, Lab. Asst. \n\n   \nIn the next session\, Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang\, Head\, Dept. of Zoology and Programme Officer of NSS Digboi College\, gave a lecture on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution”. Mr. Tariang emphasized on the ban of single use plastic and the plastics which cannot be avoided like the wrappers of biscuits\, chips\, sweets\, etc. can be put inside a plastic bottle\, convert it into an eco-bricks. Mr. Tariang also emphasized on avoiding single plastics while buying meat or fish\, it can avoided by using a tiffin box or hot-case which is more hygienic. In his talk\, Mr. Tariang also emphasized on how the microplastic pollution have created cardiovascular diseases in human\, which is again a great threat to our health concerned. The microplastics are the products which are produced from every plastic product and contact human through water\, air and food. Sources from sea food\, drinking water\, fish etc. also prevailed high as per the study. \n  \n Later in the evening\, NSS Digboi College have conducted an awareness drive and carried out painting competition at Saraipung Forest Village at Saraipung L.P. School. Mr. Jogiram Kutum\, Headmaster of the school\, Ms. Songiboni Bhumij\, Gaon Pradhan along with others were also present. The villagers and the school children were made aware on the ill effects of the single use plastics. Tree plantation was also organized at Saraipung. DESCRIPTION:28th February 2023: The Department of Physics in Association with the Digboi College Students Science Club celebrated the National Science Day 2023 with the Central theme “Global science for Global well being”. The program started with floral tributes to C.V.Raman. The Principal\, Dr. Dip Saikia addressed the students on the significance of the day and the central theme. This was followed by an oral presentation competition and a poster presentation competition both of which were organised parallelly. A total of 20 papers were presented by the students.\nThe program concluded with prize distribution where the Vice Principal Dr. A.C. DESCRIPTION:21 February 2023: On 21/02/2023\, Department of Assamese in collaboration with IQAC\, Digboi College has organised International Mother Language Day in college auditorium at 11.00 am. The chief guest of the occasion was eminent writer and speaker\, Mayur Bora. The programme started with a chorus performed by the students of Digboi College. The honoree was introduced by Dr. Mrinal Kumar Gogoi and felicitated by the Principal of Digboi College\, Dr. Dip Saikia. The inaugural speech was given by Principal\, stating the importance of the Mother Language Day and enlightening its history. Following the session\, the Assamese department’s magazine Manjuri (মঞ্জুৰী) along with department’s publication Sinta bisitra (চিন্তা- বিচিত্রা) (Editor: Achyut Saikia) were inaugurated by the guest of honour. Going with the programme\, the invited guest literary veteran “Mayur Bora”\, delivered his speech. He made aquainted the spectators with the history of Assam and it’s native language. Further\, he signifies the Mother Language Day and it’s observance to promote linguistic as well as cultural diversity. \n  \nA total of 42 faculty and staff members were present on this celebration along with a good strength of students. Also\, president of Governing body\, Digboi College were present at the occasion. SUMMARY:Great Backyard Bird Count : Experts from e-Bird India & Bird Count India
DESCRIPTION:  \nDepartment of Zoology conducts Great Backyard Bird Count \n17th February 2023:  Department of Zoology\, Digboi College conducted bird counts at their campus in collaboration with eBird India and Bird Count India in the morning hours of 17/02/2023. Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang\, Head\, Dept. of Zoology\, takes the initiative to conduct the 4 days campus bird count in the morning along with the students of Digboi College from 17th to 20th February 2023. On the day\, about 40 species of birds were sighted\, with 92 individuals in the entire survey. Dr. Pragnesh Patel of Dadra and Naga Haveli\, a famous birder of India who is also a professional medical doctor\, was the key resource person for the students who delivered a fruitful lecture. Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang guided the students during the bird count and the team of experts. Mr. Saswat Mishra\, another birder of Bird Count India residing at Dadar and Naga Haveli\, who is an Electrical Engineer and an M. Tech. Student have also guided the students in the field. Further\, Mr. Pallav Pranjol Sarma of Guwahati\, Mr. Debojit Phukan of Tinsukia\, and Mr. Aovick Das Gutpa of Kaziranga were also present. SUMMARY:Educating Youth on Gender Identity
DESCRIPTION:  \n16th Februay 2023: \nA Talk on ‘Educating Youth on Gender Identity’ was organised by the Dept. of English\, in association with Internal Complaint Committee and IQAC\, Digboi College on 16-02-2023 at the College auditorium. The talk\, delivered by Rituparna Neog\, Founder-Director\, Akam Foundation: towards equality\, an intersectional queer feminist\, a social activist\, queer rights activist\, story-teller and a poet\, was attended by an overwhelming number of students from the college and a large number of teaching faculty. Rituparna deliberated upon how gender and sex is assigned at birth\, the societal expectations placed on individuals\, the complex ways that gender is institutionalized in society and how gender cannot be confined to a binary and\, also\, how the deviation from the established norms and societal expectations poses challenges to the individuals concerned. She talked about the various initiatives she was actively involved in and called upon the college community to facilitate a gender neutral washroom @nomoreholdingmypee\, so that students with different gender identities do not come across untoward incidents. Queries and questions from the audience during the interaction session\, were ably addressed by Rituparna. The event was hosted by Baby Ritu Phukan\, from the Dept. of English\, who introduced the speaker to the audience. Deepa Sarma Borthakur\, Chairperson of the Internal Complaint Committee\, spoke about how a discourse on issues of gender identity was the need of the hour. DESCRIPTION:ONE-DAY SYMPOSIA ON PRODUCTIVITY\, GREEN GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY: CELEBRATING INDIA’S G20 PRESIDENCY \n13th February 2023:  On the occasion of National Productivity Week ( February 12 to 18)\, the Department of Commerce\, Digboi College has taken an initiative to observe this week on 13th of February\,2023 to enhance the level of productiveness among the students. This initiative has been undertaken by the Training and Placement Cell\, Department of Commerce\, in association with IQAC\, Digboi College\, and the Assam Productivity Council. \nThis\, one day symposia was held in the conference hall of the college\, with a gathering of about 90 students. The special guest invited were Prof. Dr. Amalesh Bhowal\, Professor\, DoC\, Assam University (Diphu) Campus as the resource person; B.P Bakshi\, Chairman\, Assam Productivity Council; and Dr. Jacob Konwar\, Asst. Prof.\, Dept. Of Commerce\, D.H.S.K Commerce College. The occasion was initiated with a felicitation ceremony to all the respective dignitaries on the Dias with a Fulam Gamusa and with a Borgeet performed by the students of the commerce department. The Head of the Institution \,Digboi College\, Dr Dip Saikia addressed the gathering with his welcoming speech\, followed by the Head\, Department of Commerce\, Dr Deborshee Gogoi . The Chairman\, Assam Productivity Council\, B.P Bakshi began his talk with the significance of productivity by permeating the importance of innovation to it. Then the resource person\, Professor Dr. Amalesh Bhowal took up the event by enlightening the gathering with the knowledge on the productivity; the concept on green growth and sustainability. The last spokesperson for the event was Dr. Jacob Konwar who tried to conclude the occasion by prioritising the composition of the preceding speakers. \n    \nTowards the end\, \, Dr. Samrat Bharadwaj \, Assistant Professor\, Department of Commerce\, Digboi College\, gave the vote of thanks to the respective dignitaries for inspiring the conference hall and the event was winded up with a group snapshot. The objective of the event was to enhance the level of productiveness among the youths in this new-era.  \nThe symposium was conducted in the conference hall of the college. The gathering for this event was about 120 students belonging from the various disciplines like commerce\, science and vocational studies. The resource person for this event was Mr. Zulfi Ali Bhutto\, who was considered 5th in Indian Ironman ranking and had acquired a 20 plus years of diversified experience in business strategy development. The other respected dignitaries for the event was Sumit Kumar Singh ( Head\, Corporate Area\, PIBM);Mr. Veeru Singh Sokhi ( Director\, Global Edu Solutions); and Mr. Vijay Raj Agarwal ( Chartered Accountant).
