SUMMARY:MAKING BEST FROM THE WASTE
DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Swachhta Pakhwada” campaign under the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” by the Government of India\, Oil India Limited in collaboration with the Department of Commerce\, Digboi College organised One Day Workshop on “Making Best from the Waste” on the 12th of July\, 2022. The objective of the workshop was to spread awareness on waste management and making the best use of the waste material that is of no use otherwise. More than thirty students from the Arts\, Science\, and Commerce streams of Digboi College\, as well as faculty members\, enthusiastically participated in the workshop organised and guided by Ms Murchana Gogoi\, Assistant Professor of Commerce at Digboi College \n  \nThe workshop was carried out in two phases\, the first phase involved demonstration and hands-on learning guided by Ms Murchana Gogoi. In the second phase\, contestants competed on the theme “Making Best from the Waste”\, which was followed by a prize-giving event sponsored by Oil India Limited\, Duliajan. In total five students won the prizes for creating eco-friendly decorative pieces and making optimum use of the waste material they could find. Dr Dip Saikia\, Principal of Digboi College conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Oil India Limited and expressed his hope for more such worthwhile collaborations. Ms. Shakshi Aggarwal\, Manager\, (CSR & Sustainable Development)\, Public Affairs Department\, Oil India Ltd on behalf of Oil India Ltd. expressed her gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Digboi College for carrying out the event successfully within such a short span of time.
