SUMMARY:Celebration of International Mother Language Day
DESCRIPTION:21st February 2024: On February 21\, 2024\, Digboi College celebrated International Mother Language Day\, organized by the Department of Assamese in collaboration with IQAC\, Digboi College\, at the Conference Hall with great enthusiasm. Welcoming all the attendees\, The Principal of Digboi College set a tone of warmth and inclusivity for the event. The celebration of IMLD contained two objectives. Firstly\, a felicitation programme for Judhabir Rana\, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 in Nepali Language for his Essays Book entitled “Nepali Loksahitya Ra Loksanskritiko Parichaya” and alumnus of Digboi College (1965-67 batch). Secondly\, a Popular Talk by Dr. Chitrajit Saikia\, a writer\, critic\, public speaker and Asst Professor in Assamese of Duliajan College. Welcoming all attendees\, the Principal of Digboi College set a tone of warmth and inclusivity for the event. Juddhaveer Rana\, who was felicitated by Principal Dr. Dip Saikia with Gamusa\, Xorai\, Citation Plague\, Packet of Books on behalf of Digboi College Fraternity. Dr. Chitrajit Saikia\, Associate Professor of Duliajan College\, Duliajan\, delivered an insightful lecture\, highlighting the profound significance of embracing one’s mother tongue\, which resonated deeply with the audience. The presence of distinguished guests Mr. Hitendra Nath Sarma\, President of the Governing Body\, and Dr. Pabitra Bharali\, IQAC Coordinator\, Digboi College\, added prestige to the event.
